Napoleon is a small town located in Desha County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 170. It is located in the southeastern region of the state, near the Mississippi River. The town was named after Napoleon Bonaparte, the famous French general and emperor. The town was founded in 1827, and was incorporated in 1888. The town is known for its historical landmarks, such as the Napoleon State Bank building, which was built in 1899 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a popular destination for hunting and fishing, as it is situated in a wildlife-rich area. The town is served by the Desha Central School District and the nearest city is Dumas, which is about 11 miles away.
